Clash at the Canyons VIII

Clash is the peak of our tournament season, everything builds up to this event in the heat of the summer and seems to be everyone’s most coveted event of the Greater Joliet Tour Season. Many players climbed to the top and showcased their play. The theme for this year’s Clash was playoffs, holy cow, there was some great play and amazing playoffs.

Saturday was a perfect weather day but Sunday brought a bit of short-lived rain, we luckily made it to nicer weather without any delays in play. After round one players received their player packs which included a Clash logo koozie, cooling towel, T-Shirt and a choice between a Swirly S Line FD or a MD4. Players that won their card after round 1 got a super cool Discmania Spore, we designed the stamp to look like a stock Spore with a few custom tweaks.

In MA1 Noah Feil and Austin Esterly (who got in off the waitlist the night before) tied with a -6 overall. After two holes Noah took down his first non flex win in MA1 shooting an average of 39 points above his rating. Noah has been on a path to greatness and he’s just getting started.

In MP50 Scott Tramblay and Mike Trumph tied with a -14 for the event and Scott Tramblay took the win after a four hole playoff.

The ladies in FPO put on a show, it has been amazing to watch the competition in this division grow. Shooting -5 overall Kacie Glade and Lexi Marx go into a playoff and after two holes Lexi Marx comes out on top to complete her goal for the season of winning FA1 in 2023 and then FPO in 2024 at The Rumble, Illinois State Championships and Clash at The Canyons. Lexi has had an amazing season and even made Sportcenter’s Top 10 for her Ace at the Des Moines Challenge.

In MPO Alberto Ochoa and Tom Earhart battled to -18 overall, Alberto won the playoff on the tough Hole 1 (course Hole 13 to B Pin) by hitting a putt from 43’ out.

Clash at the Canyons VII Winners

Huge thanks to our spotters and extended staff.

This was Joe Moore’s 4th year starting Clash, he announced every players name with enthusiasm.

Ed Schenkenfelder returned to his post on Hole 6A even though there was no mando in play, he kept players moving and spotted along the creek. Take Ed’s advice and P.I.O. “What happened was the physical manifestation of the mandatory line ceased to exist in our realm. Many of our brave and talented participants felt that this presented a unique and previously unavailable opportunity for a reduction in strokes. The understandable but misguided consideration made getting to the basket a fairly tough battle for some and lost plastic for others. Pitch It Out.”

Steffe Harwood and Nate Hurst teamed up on Hole 4 and Hole 13 both days this year.

Matt Kelly played THEN spotted on Hole 13.

Jake Stovie hopped in and spotted on Hole 13 until Matt Kelly finished his lunch.

Truckin Delicious served lunch for a bit both days, did anyone else get the best ever elote?!

Adam Wrona and the Lockport Park District have been stepping up their game with course maintenance , we didn’t think it could get any better but we are thankful to work with such motivated individuals who understand what The Canyons needs.
