Hellwood is one of the most unique events that we have organized. After two years of the successful Joliet Prison Putting League we knew we wanted to host another winter putting league but the use of the prison was no longer an option. In the fall of 2021, I started to see the ads for HellsGate Haunted House and a lightbulb went off. I remember going through HellsGate the first year they opened and was amazed by the theatrics and set design, I started to recall the rooms and knew we could fit an 18 hole putting course inside the haunted house. I reached out to general manager, Kyle LaFlamboy, and the rest is history. We spent a few days figuring out the layout, loading in baskets and setting up the course, each hole was unique and even though all were under 30 feet they were definitely not easy.
