Zack Finwall

Zack joined the Dellwood Disc Golf team on January 2, 2020. He comes from a baseball background and the first course that he ever played was West Park in Joliet, IL. He got a hole-in-one that day on hole 23 by throwing a flick anhyzer with a yellow DX Destroyer with a red stamp; and ended up loosing that disc on his second round on hole 2 in the water.
From there, he played a few casual rounds with friends and saw how good the game could be when he witnessed Matt Rooney throw a forehand on hole 1 at the Oaks, that was dead center chains. Zack continued to play leagues and get more involved in the game.
Joe Moore and Cory Rains inspired him to play more too, especially with Cory throwing 400 foot bosses with his forehand like nothing. That’s what made him want to get better, to play like those guys and keep getting better.
Casually playing in the middle of 2017 he found local legend, Al “Lefty” Hermosillo’s disc at Evergreen Park and returned it to him. That was his introduction to the J-Town disc golf club. Al showed him the ropes and taught him how to play.
Zack was on Dellwood Disc Golf’s radar to get him on the team, but the full connection didn’t evolve until Zack approached Sean in the shop. At that time, there wasn’t room on the team but 7 months later he got the call.
